The iconic Unikko pattern emerged in 1964 as a rebellious response to Marimekko founder Armi Ratia's declaration against floral fabrics. Undeterred by rules, renowned Finnish designer Maija Isola defied conventions by creating a bold collection of floral patterns, led by Unikko, meaning poppy in Finnish. Today, Unikko remains one of Marimekko's most celebrated patterns, revered worldwide for its enduring charm and universal recognition.
